'It takes a village to raise a child' is an African proverb that really resonates with us. It means that an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment.
We know families can be an incredibly powerful force, but recognise that they all have limitations. Some parents feel stifled by factors beyond their control and can find themselves in deadlock with their child. This can be especially frustrating for them when they see their child’s unfulfilled potential.
Where possible, we are determined to have input from the family by positively harnessing the family’s knowledge, willing and skills. We believe it’s essential that everyone adapts to the extraordinary physical and emotional changes young people experience.
Families believe that engaging an expert has an incredible impact on their child. We believe that the success of their child is brought about by harnessing everyone’s best and most helpful input.
Distinction Coaching keeps parents apprised. Where appropriate, we offer brief monthly catch-ups and detailed quarterly catch-ups. We are happy to do these in person. Depending on the family’s requirements, we also offer formal reporting – one at the start of the calendar year and one at the end of the academic year. Where possible, we also set-up group chats to keep communication simple and quick.
We also work hard with our clients to ensure they keep their families in the loop and discuss our work with them.
