Personal, Academic and Vocational
"The treadmill of academic challenges"
The likes and ambitions of young people can be very different, but what they face through their Golden Decade is very similar. The treadmill of academic challenges is often at the forefront of their minds.
Our PAV Approach
At Distinction Coaching, we believe that success is three dimensional. Guided by this, we designed a unique system of learning and development: the Personal, Academic and Vocational (PAV) Approach. This approach is the most powerful method to inspire passion, self-motivation and achieve excellence:
Reaching the apex in one area – we have found that for all abilities, but especially at the apex, unlocking a young person’s full potential in one area requires focus on one (or both) of the other two. For example, we know that focus on a young person’s health and wellbeing can have an explosive impact on their academic achievement.
Accessing exceptional opportunities – we see time and again young people with flawless academic records fall short of the mark in competitive selection (see Climate). The PAV Approach builds the complete profile and is the most effective way of setting young people apart. This allows them to access exceptional opportunities.
Finding the connections
One of the unique things about the PAV Approach is that individual factors are not taken in isolation – finding the links is often where the magic happens. Resembling a Renaissance approach, the PAV Approach develops interdisciplinary skills, such as versatile thinking, which empower young people to take action in their own lives and problems. Our experience tells us that this is essential through a young person’s Golden Decade and beyond.
Expert execution
The execution of the PAV Approach by experts is essential to its success. At the foundation of the approach is forewarning of coming challenges and a detailed understanding of what is required to succeed at each stage of the Golden Decade. When this is coupled with an understanding of a young person’s profile and performance, they can be directed onto the most direct and focussed route to excellence.
