A-Level students

Narrow and deep

The transition from GCSEs to A Levels / IB is tricky – students go from learning a little about a lot, to going narrower and deeper into just a few disciplines. This academic transition often presents challenges, including increasing academic demands and more unstructured time. We can help.

All aspects, covered

Our approach is grounded in a long-term plan, which gives our A Level students academic independence and control of their own journey. We think carefully about how best to balance extra-curricular activities with schoolwork and personal life – this is crucial to build a strong university application. This plan informs our approach to activities which are:

  • Beyond the classroom – making deliberate choices about ‘down-time’ to select rewarding activities – this should include finding and developing new interests

  • Intellectual enrichment - we curate reading lists and create a bespoke plan of lectures, courses, events and research opportunities to broaden our students’ academic exposure

  • Testing - a bespoke revision plan which ensures mental agility, drawing on long term memory and optimising exam performance

  • Vocational – building industry knowledge (securing work experience, networking etc.) and demonstrating involvement, crafting a compelling CV, exploring career paths (which may include apprenticeships)
